Achievements

Reddiford pupils excel across the curriculum. Alongside their success in transition to a range of secondary schools, there are a number of competitions and events that our children take part in regularly. As well as a few delightful, ad hoc opportunities that present themselves that are just too good to miss out on! Some of the regular events are detailed here.

Reddiford pupils have been both winners of, and runners-up in, the Independent Schools Association Junior Horsey Essay Prize. Open to entries from all pupils across the ISA member schools, this is a highly contested affair boasting writing of an exceptionally high standard for the age range. We are also frequent entrants of the ISA Area Art Competition, our most recent success coming from a collaborative piece which the whole Art Club contributed to!

Each year Reddiford pupils from Year 1 up to Year 6 are invited to put forward an entry for the British Science Association’s nationwide poster competition for National Science and Engineering Week. Every year the theme of the competition changes; yet every year Reddiford pupils continue to show their understanding in such wonderfully creative ways. There are a number of Reddiford School pupils among the winners of this fantastic event.

Reddiford holds an annual Photography competition for pupils from Year 1 to Year 6, inviting them to present entries in a number of different categories which change each year. All of us are much more able to take photographs now than ever before – with powerful cameras on our smart phones. The children are encouraged to think about the object, composition and framing of their shots. Some really inventive submissions are received every year, making the judging a very difficult task. Once that has been resolved, short-listed entries and winners are displayed for pupils, parents and staff to view.

The Mathematics department takes selected children from Year 4 and Year 6 to local competitions with other schools where they enjoy great success. We also host our own competition for local schools for Year 5 children. In addition to these local events, we enter the First Mathematics Challenge with our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils and the Primary Mathematics Challenge for our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. These National competitions show the very high calibre of our pupils – in the 2022 Primary Maths Challenge February Bonus Round nineteen Reddiford pupils earned medals.
Due to their great success in competitions aimed at Primary School pupils, we also enter our Year 6 pupils into the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematical Challenge. This challenge is aimed at Year 7 and Year 8 pupils. Each year between approximately 50% and 75% of our Year 6 pupils earn an award for their attainment in this prestigious event, aimed at secondary-school-aged pupils. A handful earn places in the further bonus rounds associated with the event.

There are so many achievements – momentous to the individual pupil and member of staff – in any school day at Reddiford. Our pupils never cease to stun us with their creativity and ingenuity and we are rightly proud of each and every one.
