Year 5 Maths Challenge

Posted: 16th June 2026

On Tuesday 12th June, we were delighted to welcome pupils from John Lyon School to Reddiford for our annual Year 5 Maths Challenge.

The competition provided pupils with a series of mathematical problems and challenges that tested not only their mathematical understanding but also their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. The standard throughout was exceptionally high, with all participants demonstrating resilience, determination and a willingness to tackle unfamiliar challenges.

Congratulations to Aarishan and Kailan, who were crowned champions with an impressive score of 134 points. The competition was incredibly close, with John Lyon School taking second and third place. Khush and Vivek represented Reddiford admirably, finishing in fourth place with 117 points.

A special well done to all of the pupils who took part. They were excellent ambassadors for their schools and approached every challenge with enthusiasm and positivity.

We would also like to thank our visitors from John Lyon School for joining us and contributing to such a successful and enjoyable event. It was wonderful to see pupils from both schools working hard and enjoying mathematics together.

Finally, thank you to our staff for their help organising and supporting the event, and to our parents for their continued support of the school and its wider opportunities for our pupils.
