After a drizzly morning, the Year 5+6 girls had everything crossed for a break in the weather and their optimism paid off! This week they lined up in mixed teams and tried out some new positions to aid their development as individuals and as a squad.
The first team to play met strong opposition from their counterparts at Alpha Prep and showed fantastic perseverance in chasing down the elusive first goal! Anika and Ashmitha, aided by Sophie and Asha, both created opportunities to score, before Ashmitha got the vital goal. Well done to Asha for her bravery in continuing to play despite picking up an injury, and to the whole team for defending well to protect their goal.
The second team to play used their observations from the first match to their advantage and got off to a flying start. They benefitted from imposing their own style of play and working hard to ensure that there was always someone available to maintain the forwards momentum. Well done to Shivani, who scored all of the goals in her first game as Goal Attack. Diya and Anaiya were also nominated as the players of the match for defending dynamically and providing the crucial link between the attackers and defenders.
