Year 5 and 6 Netball V Quainton Hall- Thursday 13th October 2022

Posted: 13th October 2022

The Year 5 and 6 girls had the wonderful opportunity to play in mixed age group teams against Quainton Hall on Thursday. Competition for places in the starting line ups was closely contested as the children have such a good sporting ethic.

In the “A” team game, the two schools were very well matched and competed in a 12-goal thriller which had our many supporters on the edge of their seats. Quainton Hall took the lead in the first half and the Reddiford players worked very hard and passed the ball at lightening speed to bring the scores back to an even 5-5. The girls really started to see why we emphasise the importance of fitness training in the second half, and their excellent stamina and teamwork prevailed to secure a 7-5 victory. After such a fantastic performance it was impossible to select just one star of the match, but a special mention goes to Anaiya and Diya for their handling skills and how well they combined in the attacking circle.

The “B” team match was also a very close fixture with both teams being capable of triumphing. The excitement of the occasion led to some frenetic play from both teams in the early stages of the game, and Quainton Hall were just ahead at half time. The children responded well to the feedback that they received at half time and Asha and Anaiya T both continued to come close to scoring goals in the second half, which ended in a draw. Well done to Serena who dominated the middle of the court and to Shasmini who was nominated as the player of the match for her desire and success in winning loose balls in her thirds.

Thank you to Quainton Hall for bringing some delicious refreshments with them and to all of the Reddiford Parents who came to support the teams.
