Year 6 had a glorious day in the sunshine learning all about rivers!
They visited the River Misbourne at two different sites – one near the source at Bough’s Meadow and the other along the middle course in Chalfont St Giles. The children worked brilliantly as young geographers, measuring the depth, width, and velocity of the river, and comparing their findings between the two locations.
At Chalfont St Giles, they also enjoyed some river dipping, discovering a fascinating range of wildlife including leeches, damselfly nymphs, and plenty of freshwater shrimp, among other creatures.
It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
