Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC)

Posted: 24th May 2024

Reddiford enjoyed its best ever year of results this year in the Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC).  The JMC is a national competition aimed at Year 7 and Year 8 mathematicians. All of our Year 6 children took part in this competition, with a staggering 91% (thirty-one out of the thirty-four children) earning a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. For some context, the awards are given only to the top 50% of entrants – so our Year 6 children have done exceptionally well and are well placed to tackle the challenges of Year 7 and Year 8 maths in the years to come!

Six children earned a Bronze award, fifteen children earned a Silver award, with Kishann, Anika, Zak, Sophie, Aarav, Zane, Sunny, Anuradha, Yusuf and Garv all excelling with a Gold award for their efforts.

This is a fantastic reward for their hard work this year – all of the children did exceptionally well (it is a particularly challenging paper) and we are tremendously proud of them all. Our thanks to their teachers who have prepared them year on year to reach such a fantastically high standard and the parents who have supported them and the School on their journey at Reddiford.

Well done, Year 6!

Mr Ford
