Year 3 and 4 V Quainton Hall- Tuesday 11th October

Posted: 11th October 2022

Tuesday 11th October was a momentous day for the Year 3 girls as it was their first opportunity to experience match play with another school. The Year 4 children helped them to prepare by sharing their experience and playing their game first, in order to lead by example.

The Year 4 match set a good precedent with all of the girls applying some of the key concepts that they have been learning in Games lessons. The match was closely contested and either team could have had the edge, particularly in the second half when the girls started to anticipate what their opponents were planning to do next! All of the players showed good perseverance and used their initiative when considering how to dodge away from their partners. Evie played particularly well when helping to link the attackers and defenders and Arielle was identified as a player with huge potential by the Quainton Hall teachers.

The Year 3 girls had a big challenge on their hands as they faced a strong Quainton Hall team, but they rose to the occasion well. We were proud of how much they remembered about the rules and tactics and their positive attitudes. The girls learnt a lot that will serve them well in future matches and enjoyed watching some impressive shots. Noya was a superb captain and helped to organise her teammates if they needed help. Sophie was identified as the most valuable player as she showed good instincts for winning the ball and identifying teammates who were in a space.

Thank you to all our supporters for coming to cheer the girls on!
