S.M.I.L.E

One of Reddiford's main aims is that our children will 'smile'.
If the pupils are smiling we know that:

S    they feel safe, in the knowledge that they are respected and their views are valued.

M   they are motivated to learn because meaningful education is being delivered.

I    they will quickly become independent learners because they receive inspirational teaching.

L    they will become lifelong learners beacause individually differentiated work ensures the level of learning is appropriate and this generates a love of learning.

E    they are learning in a school that is continually evolving and presenting itself with new challenges, thus preparing them for a constantly changing world.

Academic excellence

Academic achievement is celebrated at every level of the school.  This culminates with great success in the 11+ examinations, where our pupils gain entrance to a diverse spread of top senior schools, many at scholarship level.

Popular destination schools include Merchant Taylors', Haberdashers' Aske's Boys, St. Helen's, Haberdashers' Aske's Girls, Northwood College, North London Collegiate, Heathfield, John Lyon, Royal Masonic.

Most of our Form 6 move on to these schools although several gain places at the local grammar schools.

A warm caring environment

Throughout the school the ethos is clearly on respect for each other.  Whilst Reddiford maintains its Church of England status, children from all faiths and cultures are welcomed.  The high staff/pupil ratio ensures excellent pastoral support and allows us to embrace the diverse needs of all children.

Our 'Open Door' policy allows parents to work together with teachers and this partnership enables children and parents to feel very much part of the Reddiford community.

The school council is an example of this respectful and caring ethos where every child's view can be expressed and the senior management team consider ideas the children have put forward.

Excellent staff/pupil ratio

Our learning support department, which is an integral part of the school curriculum, allows each child to achieve their full potential.  Our highly qualified learning support teachers work, together with trained teaching assistants, to support less able children and allow the highly academic children to receive differentiated work that challenges them.

Wrap around care

We offer before and after school care that enables parents to drop their children at school from 7.55am (8.00am in the nursery) and collect them at any time up until 5.00pm.
