The Bujagali Trust On the 28th April 2009, Mr Riley, the Headmaster of the John Lyon School, came to our school to do an assembly about the Bujagali Trust. Mr Riley is a chairman and a founder of the Bujagali Trust. The Bujagali Trust is a charity which sets up schools for children in Uganda, East Africa. Most children in Uganda cannot afford to go to school and so the Bujagali Trust raises money to pay for the children's school fees. To help raise some money for the Bujagali Trust, the School Council organised a cake sale and some people in the School Council sold some Mother's Day cards. All the money raised form these things, was counted up and then a cheque was written out to Mr Riley. This cheque was given to Mr Riley at the assembly. When Mr Riley came, the Headmaster of a new schol in Uganda came too. His name was Godfrey Kiganga. He gave a talk about what things were like in schools in Uganda. He also showed us some of the things children in Uganda play with and we had to try and guess what the toy was. After the assembly, the idea came up of having a charity day in the school. Now once every week, every child in the school gives some money to charity. Again, all the money raised is going to the Bujagali Trust. Out of all this, all the children in Reddiford are now giving money to the Bujagali Trust and the children in Uganda are getting a good education. Zita Laleendra
